Today we’re looking back at a monument we made in 2017. Every year, DeKalb County has a ceremony for their officers lost in the line of duty. In 2017, DeKalb County Police decided to honor their officers in a memorial monument.
Police Memorials are a lasting tribute to officers who sacrificed their lives protecting others. They serve as reminders of the risk officers take across the country every day.
Below are some quotes about the event and images of the beautiful monument in honor of the unforgotten heroes.
The Monument honors those “42 DeKalb County Law Enforcement Officers who have given their lives in the line of duty.”
THE NACA’S SUPPORT
“DeKalb County unveiled a monument dedicated to the police officers killed in the line of duty. It is a honor for NACA to be one of the supporters. NACA board member Brian Mock, Charlene Fang and member Kemba Smith/ Lion International Director are part of the key persons to making this project successful.”
– The National Association of Chinese Americans Atlanta
The Monument was dedicated by the North Decatur Lions Club, DeKalb County Law Enforcement Agencies and City of Chamblee.
According to psychologists, memorials help survivors come out of the emotional shock in a stronger manner. Dealing with death, loss and grief is difficult for anyone, but especially officers who deal with it every day. By providing a permanent monument, the survivors and other officers have a place to go and show their respect to the deceased.
The Monument was installed on October 4th, 2017 at Dresdon Park in Chamblee, Georgia.
Memorials are an important part of every culture. They allow people to remember deceased loved ones, public figures or important events. We continue to create these memorial monuments in respect and love of those we have lost.
